The term 'Lighted Path' comes from Psalm 119:105 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.' The term karate is short for karate-do (doe). Karate means 'empty hand' and do means 'the way'. Similarly, many martial arts systems end with 'do' meaning the way. For example Judo is the way of gentleness and Taekwondo is the way of the hand and foot. Jesus said 'I am way, the truth and the life' (John 14:6) Therefore our 'way' or path that we travel is illuminated by the word - God's Word.
